Job Description

Role Snapshot

You’ll engineer the electronics architecture and hardware for space robotic platforms within Fluid Wire Robotics’ Space Division. You’ll enable the in-orbit demonstration of Fluid Wire technology in 2028, integrating payload electronics with spacecraft systems for IOD, servicing, and debris removal missions. You’ll work on site in Pisa, Italy, hands on with robotic hardware and test assets to turn concepts into flight-ready systems. Your work will be central to system reliability, qualification, and mission success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the electronics architecture for robotic payloads, from concept to flight-like implementation
  • Design schematics and multilayer PCBs, prototype, and validate through bring-up, bench testing, and iteration
  • Develop power electronics and analog signal conditioning with a focus on reliability, noise performance, and safety
  • Select space-suitable components, document derating and reliability rationale, and plan for procurement and obsolescence
  • Lead integration with spacecraft systems, interfaces, and GSE, coordinating with external partners as needed
  • Plan, execute, and document verification and validation, including environmental testing readiness and compliance to relevant standards

What You Bring

Technical Toolkit

  • PCB design and EDA tools, Altium Designer or similar
  • Power electronics, converters, protection, derating
  • Analog signal conditioning, filtering, grounding, EMC practices
  • Component selection for space or harsh environments
  • Modeling and analysis tools, Matlab Simulink

Professional Experience

  • Deliver electronics from architecture through prototype, test, and iteration, 2+ years including academic research
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and automation teams to achieve system integration
  • Produce rigorous documentation, test plans, and traceability aligned to mission requirements
  • Communicate clearly with external stakeholders for interfaces, test campaigns, and reviews

Nice to have

  • Space electronics background, radiation and environmental considerations, ECSS familiarity
  • Robotics or automation experience in extreme environments
  • Basic embedded programming for bring-up and hardware testing

Languages
